Strays by Eliza Marsh

Strays (Red Kings MC, #1)Strays by Eliza Marsh
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jackie and Tyler are best friends who have been through more than most. When Tyler gets invited into the Red Kings MC, Jackie obviously follows and falls in love with the Vice President of the club.

I loved this book so much. I'm generally a fan of motorcycle club romances but this one is really nice and in a way it stands out. There isn't too much violence and it really focuses on the relationship between Dean and Jackie. There are some complicated things they face and this makes the book more interesting in my opinion. The supporting characters are also great and I would love to read their stories in the future as well.
The book ends in the most juicy cliffhanger so I really cannot wait to read the next book in the series.

Kiss and Consume by Lynelle Barrett

Kiss and ConsumeKiss and Consume by Lynelle Barrett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Info

Abigail's parents are executed as vampires and she flees to the house of a local teacher. He is kind and he believes that she is innocent. A romance starts to build, but things are not quite as they seem and tragedy strikes.

Review

The book is a great read and there is twists and turns and nothing is ever certain. The unknowns causes people to be gruel and thirst for blood and that leads to a lot of unhappiness. I like the relationship between Abigail and Levi. It's full of love and trust and childlike learning.
The plot goes up and down and I feel like it had more potential than what it delivered. It is a good book, but I feel like it could have been more. Also, there are certain aspects of the plot that are a little bit hard to follow, like the case of the doctor's hatred and his past life with Elisabeth.
It is important to remember that this is a first in series so, of course, there has to be something left to the next books in the series.
All in all, I like this book, but there are parts that I did not like so much hence the four stars. I definitely want to read the next book in the series.

Ecstasy Unbound by Setta Jay

Stars: ★★★★★

General info

Gods, goddesses and their offspring. Other immortal and supernatural beings. A love story with a great heroine and hot male warriors. They fight the never ending war between good and evil. Add in soulmates and everything turns more interesting.

Things I liked

I really like this book. The plot is interesting, and it never gets boring. I like how romance and the relationship between Alex and Uri is on the frontline even though they are constantly fighting against evil. I also like that this is not a typical supernatural story with vampires and werewolves. This has gods, and Demi-gods who happen to have some animal sides to them. It's refreshing at least to me.
I have always found the whole mate thing to be nice and romantic and I really like the way it is presented here. Just makes me wish us humans had the one forever mate too.

Conclusion

There was nothing negative that comes to mind now. All in all, this book is great and I can't wait to keep reading more in the series. I wish all the guardians have as interesting stories as this one is.

How to Seduce a Billionaire by Portia Da Costa

Stars: ★★★★★

General info

Jess and Ellis meet accidentally in the pouring rain. This starts a fling they both think will only last a few moments. They face their ups and downs whilst also trying to fight falling in love.

Things I liked

I absolutely love the idea of the story. I just wish my Dream Lover would show up and whisk me away. The story never gets boring and I was hooked until the end. I certainly hoped that Jess and Ellis would get their happy ending. They really deserve it.
I also love the characters. Jess is a 29-year old virgin, which on its own is unusual. She is a woman who has put everything on hold to take care of her nan and now that she is gone, is still trying to find her way back to her life.
Ellis has lost everything important to him. He’s a kind man, he’s not too domineering or forceful. He’s a lovely man altogether but he cannot get over his dead family. Let’s just say he is very different from the typical billionaire characters and I really liked that.

Conclusion

As a whole, I really truly love this book. It is a beautiful story with a happy ending and I’m so happy that I found this book and got to enjoy it. The story is beautiful and I recommend it from the bottom of my heart.

Teaching His Ward by Noël Cades

General info

This is a bit of a cliche regency romance novel. Jemima is a 17-year old orphan girl whose guardian is the Earl of Southwell, a man who she has never met but who is extremely strict. When he forbids Jemima from going to London to begin her introduction to society, the adventure starts.

Things I liked

I generally like these kind of historical novels because they are easy to read and the language isn't too heavy. The story was good, even if it is a bit cliche. It was still great to follow and to experience Jemima and Marcus' love story. I wish finding a longtime partner would be this easy nowadays as it seem to have been in the good-old-days.

Things I didn't like

Well, I think there's nothing that I didn't like. I don't mind the cliche or anything. It moved a little fast since the Lord of Southwell travels so much so some months are skipped in the book but I don't mind that either. The ending could have been a bit longer but I still like it a lot.

Conclusion

All in all, this is a very enjoyable book that brightens up your day. I personally could not stop reading this book and when I wasn't reading the book, I was thinking about it so I guess I was totally hooked until the very end.

General info

Gavin and Thea rushed into marriage and now three years later it’s catching up with them. Thea wants divorce and Gavin is willing to do anything to win her back but is that enough? Thea also has to work through her troubled childhood to be able to fully engage in her marriage.

Things I liked

I love, love, love the book. It’s a brilliant story and it fully restores my faith that I will find my perfect match someday. I love the idea that real men will read romance books and that they actually study and enjoy them at least to some extent.
The characters were great, especially Gavin and the rest of the bromance book club members.
The story itself is beautiful and I like that there are actually chapters from the romance novel Gavin is reading in the book.

Things I did not like

First, I have to say there is not many things that I didn’t like.
Thea and Thea’s reluctance to do anything to fight for her marriage pissed me of at first. And she was just full on ready to run.
Second, I didn’t like Liv. If I had a sister and she was like Liv in a situation like the one in the book I would not be happy.

Conclusion

All in all, this was a brilliant book. I enjoyed it immensely and I’m a bit sad that I’m finished with it. The author’s writing style was also pleasant and I wouldn’t mind reading more from her. I recommend this book to everyone from the bottom of my heart.

A story about a girl who has the power to stop the massacre of her kind, sex demons. Follow this funny, fast-paced story to see how Perry manages her quest and how she manages her relationship with her new husband.

Things I liked

This story was super easy to follow and it kept its interest until the very end. It was interesting for me to follow Perry and her husband on their journey and to follow them with their discoveries. I also enjoyed the fast tempo a lot as I feel that this kept the book interesting until the end and it was quick to read as well. The author's writing style was also really good and I enjoyed reading her work in general.

Concluding word

All in all, I think this book was great and I don't see anything negative to say about it. I enjoyed the book immensely and I can't wait to read more books in this series but also just more books from the author.

General info

Meet Nell, a successful lawyer and a woman who has planned her life to the her dying day. A successful law career, the perfect man and 2.5 kids, that's what she wants.
Meet Vincent, a politician and a dominant.
When these two make a deal and decide to enter into a six month long BDSM relationship, Nell's plan takes a detour. And things do not go as she has planned.

What I liked

I have to say, there wasn't much I didn't like about this book. It is a lovely piece of literature and the writing style is great. The plot is interesting and keeps the reader hooked until the end. I'm a sucker for some erotica and romance and this book definitely has both of them in it.
Also, both Nell and Vincent are great and interesting characters and I really truly love their relationship.

Things I did not like

Like I said, I love this book and there isn't a lot of bad things to say about it. The only thing for me is that I think it could have gone on for a little bit longer. It would have been great to be able to read how their relationship grows after the books ending.

Concluding words

All in all, this book is just lovely and I recommend it from the bottom of my heart. I'm not an expert on BDSM or any relationships but I enjoyed Vincent and Nell's relationship and would have loved to read more about them.

Old enough by Charmaine Pauls

I have never been a big fan of romances between an older woman and a younger man. However, this book was brilliant. The characters were amazing and skilfully created. Brian was a character who acted in such a way I always forgot his age and Jane as well. She acted a lot more younger than what she then turned out to be. This book really made my opinions rise to the surface and I can't wait to read the rest of their story. I really hope they get a happy ending, they truly deserve it.

The Rise and Fall of Becky Sharp

First off, I haven’t read the original Vanity Fair so I can’t compare these two books.
When it comes to this book, I can honestly say I liked the book. I both admire and hate Becky Sharp.
The story itself kind of pulls you in and goes up and down and up and down until the end. The plot is interesting and I feel all kinds of emotions and I absolutely love that Amelia got a happy ending and that George Wiley got what he deserved.
All in all it was a good book that made me feel a thousand emotions.

Escort by Skye Warren

This book is a lovely romance. It is a bit predictable but I didn't mind it and there is still some excitement.
The plot is very easy to follow and I quite liked it. It's not everyday that you get to read about a mail escort. Who falls in love with a client. Usually it's the other way around.
The characters were interesting too and I really liked the relationship between Hugo and Bea.
All in all, the book was very quick and easy to read. The ending was a bit predictable but it fit well with the book and it would have been a bit stupid if the book had ended in any other way.

Wolf Kiss by Christine DePetrillo

I loved this story. It is a refreshing perspective and storyline in the werewolf genre and I really enjoyed reading this book.
The plot is different to other werewolf books I've read and I found the plot to be exciting and fresh and there was never a dull moment. I also really liked that there was a goddess involved and it was not the Moon Goddess.
The characters are simple but not too much and they just really fit together really well. I really liked the close relationship between all the main characters and that there was such close relationships between real wolves and humans as well.
I also really, really enjoyed that there was a wolf sanctuary in the centre of everything as I find the idea of a wolf sanctuary to be fascinating and it kind of just fits into this book really well.
All in all, this book is fantastic, I loved reading it and it was a really quick read. I've already purchased the next part in the series as I just can't wait what happens next.

The Rules of Seeing by Joe Heap

This book was a beautiful story about love and life and I love every single word of it. Of course, I hate bits about it too, but those are the bits that something bad is happening.

The storyline itself, is beautiful. I love how it connects two completely different people and pushes them through happy times and bad time and separate times but they always somehow end up together again or meeting up again.
The main characters are great as well. I love Nova, who as a grown woman can still act so carefree and so excited about everything. Then again, she used to be blind. And then there's Kate who needs help but does not realize it. I love the relationship between them and how they connect so well. I hate Tony and everything he put them through and I really dislike Rebecca, mainly because she just seems like a bitch.
It's been a while since I've read a book that has romance, action, suspense, and other genres included in them and this one just totally works.
I would read this again in a heartbeat and I recommend it to you all!

Your soul was made for mine by C.L. Hunter

First off I'd like to say that I absolutely adore this book. I believe it will be one of those books that I will read again and again.

When I started this book, I had certain expectations because on the book description, it is mentioned that this is a good book for fans of Fifty Shades of Grey. Because of those expectations I was a bit confused in the beginning because it was nothing like Fifty Shades and as a huge fan of Fifty Shades, I was a bit disappointed. Somehow the book had a grip on me however, so I kept going. And it was worth it.
I now see the similarities between this book and the Fifty Shades series but still they are completely different.
The plot in this book is marvelous and mysterious and beautiful. I like how none of the problems the characters face have to do with their relationship. It always goes strong and you truly get the feeling that they are made for each other. There are also some major plot twists and that ensures that you never get bored. I literally did not want to put the book down, it was just so beautiful.
The characters, especially Nolan and Emmalyn, are both complicated truly interesting. They deserve their happy ending. And I truly could not be happier for them.
Additionally, I liked how religion, their beliefs and and faith was also brought into this book. I'm not big on religion myself but I think it truly belong in this book and it somehow made this book better.
And when it comes to the similarities between this book and Fifty Shades of Grey series, I think the relationship between the main characters is similar to each other, but this book is not as focused on the erotic bit. I mean there is a lot of sex, and it belongs in this book but from the very beginning, the relationship between Emmalyn and Nolan was about so much more than just sex. In fact, love was there before they ever had sex and that is one of my favorite bits about this book.
This is and will be one of my all time favorite books and I can't wait to read more and to read the stories of the other characters of this book.

Billionaire's Princess by Claire Adams

I'm a huge fan of the author and of this Billionaire series. This book was great as well and it was a bit different from yout usual billionaire novels.
The main characters, Ariana, a runaway princess, and Nicholas, a billionaire who's tired of being a billionaire, are not the typical characters in these types of novels. I found this to be really refreshing. The characters also really fit well together, as they are, in some ways, very similar to each other but still different. Also, as I said, the characters are really interesting as individuals. There's Ariana, who is running away from her castle and away from a fiancee who is years and years older than her. And then, there is Nicholas, who is tired of being a billionaire, who just wants to live a normal, quite life. And together, they have passion.
The plot of the book is interesting as well and it doesn't get boring. There is always something happening, whether it is the characters being together or the other being kidnapped. Also, the plot isn't straightforward, straight to the happy ending kind of thing. The characters face a lot of hardship, until they get their happy ending and for me, that is important. There wasn't really a chance for me to loose interest.
In conclusion, this book is great, I still really love Claire Adams' work and I can't wait to read more of her novels.

Bought by the billionaire brothers (The bundle) by Alexx Andria

First off, I bought this book after I had read the sample book and the first two chapters sounded interesting.
There's basically four main characters, three of them at first and three of the four are brothers as well. At first all the characters sounded quite interesting and even though Penny was a bit naive, I like her. However, a bit further into the book, the brothers turned out to be quite mean and very simple in the way they treated Penny. Then there's the third brother who, at first seems to be villain of the book, but turns out to be the good guy. In a way all the characters could have been a bit more developed.
Moving on to the plot of the book. Like I have already mentioned, I read the first two chapters before purchasing this book and the those chapters really arose my interest in the book. It sounded like a good book. Then, further in the book, it changed for the worse and the plot was alright but it didn't quite fill my expectations. The drama was just a bit unfitting in a way. And even though I enjoyed most of the book, there is still some bits that I absolutely despised.
The book ends in a way that I was not quite expecting but it was a good ending still and it was worth to read.

Unleashed by Kathryn Taylor

This book is the ending to Jonathan Huntington and Grace Lawson's story. However, it is not a full-lenght novel like I was hoping for, and it is basically only the missing epilogue from the second book in the trilogy. I did however, enjoy reading this a lot. It was so great to know how things went and that they indeed got the happy ending they deserved. I could have read more about them, and I would have happily read a full-lenght novel but I take what I can get. All in all, this book was great but because I hoped for a longer story this one fill get four stars.

Uncovered by Kathryn Taylor

This book is the second novel in the Colours of Love series. In it, the story of Jonathan Huntington and Grace Lawson continues.
I personally feel that this was a bit better than the first book because it is not about just sex anymore but rather the relationship between Jonathan and Grace continues to grow and there are real feelings involved here. Of course, as in any story, things can't just be diamonds and roses and they do face a number of obstacles but it does make the story what it is and it makes it feel more real. Another thing that makes this book better than the first novel is the amount of feelings that it made me feel as a reader. It made me feel sad and happy and excited and nervous and to me that is what makes a book good. And the cherry on top, was the ending that just made me super-duper happy!

Unbound by Kathryn Taylor

This book is the first installment in the colors of love series. It tells the story of Grace Lawson and Jonathan Huntington, a wealthy business owner. In a way, it’s a bit similar to the Fifty Shades of Grey series but still so much different.
The characters are complex and for example, Jonathan is still a huge mystery even at the end of the book and it leaves the reader wondering about a lot of things, both about the character and about the story itself and the future of the main characters’ relationship.
Additionally, I really enjoyed the physical chemistry and attraction Grace and Jonathan have for each other. It makes the book so much more enjoyable and easier to read.
As a huge fan of the fifty shades of grey series, I fell in love with the colors of love as well. I couldn’t put the book down before the very and even then I had to start reading the next book in the series straight away, the ending was that good and I had to keep on reading about their love story. All in all, this book was perfect and I can’t wait to read the rest of the books in the series.

* I received the arc for the book from the publisher through Netgalley.

Fashionably dead down under by Robyn Peterman

Right, so Astrid is back at it again and it’s crazier than ever. This book does get the full stars with flying colors but there still some things I don’t like.
First, let’s go through all the amazingess of this book. As the title tells, Astrid ends up in hell, not in Australia like some you might imagine. And it turns out that the upper level of bell is basically a paradise which in itself if quite amazing. Then obviously, there’s the fact that the seven deadly sins are actually female and closely related to the devil and addicted to Facebook and finally, it turns out that the Satan is quite a handsome fellow and pretty much a nice guy. In fact, I think the only negative fact is that Ethan is absent for the first half of the book.
The plot is great, at first I didn’t like it or this book and much as the first one but now that I’ve had some time to think, it was actually really great and I can’t wait to read the next installment. And of course, all the additional characters like god and Mother Nature are absolutely hilarious and I really can’t wait what the next book brings because it might be seriously crazy.
