Odyssey in a Teacup by Paula Houseman

"Life is a tragicomedy"

This book is amazing. I haven't read too many coming-of-age stories so I haven't much to compare this story to, but it is hilarious and quite serious at the same time. It was interesting and it woke my empathetic side up even though I can't really relate to many things that Ruth has to g through. However, I think, at some point, all of go through some kind of need to fit in and we try to do that by changing ourselves in someways. In that aspect, everybody can relate to something the characters go through in the book.
The story itself is very interesting and I love the ending although there is a bit of a cliffhanger. I love the way this story is told, and I truly enjoyed all the hilarious and humiliating stories Ruth tells from her life.
The book is made even better by all the great characters. At times, I laughed so hard at their antics that people were staring. I especially love both Ruth who is the main character and Ralph. They just somehow made their home in my brain. I truly loved and truly enjoyed reading this book.

*I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book so I could give an honest review.

The possible world by Liese O'Halloran Schwarz

This is such a beautiful story it made me cry.

The possible world is the story of four people, Ben, Leo, Lucy and Claire.
Ben, a boy of six years, whose just lost his mother to a brutal murder, Leo, a boy who lives in Ben's head and memories, Lucy, an ER doctor, whose life is falling apart and Claire, a lady, almost hundred years old who has experienced loss more than anybody should.
They are all very different but still they are connected. The connection between them isn't clear until later in the book and it keeps you guessing and interested in the story from the beginning to the end.

Like I said, the story itself is marvelous and so, so beautiful. It's not particularly happy, it's actually quite sad and full of darkness and misery. It goes through Leo and Claire's story in their memories and Lucy lives through her life that is falling apart. All these little pieces we read through, moves us toward the ending, where all of it makes sense and all of them are connected.

It is so hard to put into words how I felt when reading this book. It's been awhile since I really cried when reading a book.
In the end, they all felt happiness. They all had they happy endings in a way. And after I closed the book, it was really hard for me to fall asleep because I was so, so overwhelmed with the book and how it made me feel. It was truly, truly beautiful and it is still hard for me to comprehend that I've finished it. But I do recommend this book to each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart.

I received this ARC from the publisher via Netgalley.

The possible world will be published on July, 12th, 2018!

Lord of Secrets by Erica Ridley

First, thank you to the publisher for pre-approving me to receive this ARC via Netgalley.
This is the fifth book in the Rogues to Riches series but can still be very much read as a stand-alone.

This book is what I enjoy. It is full of passion and love but there was also drama and secrets.
Meet Nora, a sheep maiden who took a position as her wealthy cousin’s paid companion to keep her family farm afloat. Then meet, Heath, a handsome and very wealthy gentleman, in line to inherit a baronetcy.
When they first meet, they both know that any kind of interaction between them will be frowned upon and a relationship would be downright forbidden. However, after a numerous twists and turns, the couple find themselves very much smitten with each other but there are secrets that could keep them apart.

The characters are interesting which I find very delightful because sometimes in historical fiction, the story line and the characters can be quite boring. That is not the case in this novel. The characters are great and they make you feel compassion and dread for them and at least I wished them to have a happily ever after.

When it comes to the plot, it is easy, and interesting to follow. It’s not boring and heavy. I did not feel the need to put book down once and like I said, it felt dreadful in the bits where the characters face hardship and problems.

A delightful and a very happy read. I’m looking forward to reading more books from this series and I warmly recommend it to any fans of historical romance stories.
This book gets the full five stars.

Lord of secrets will be published June, 15th (that is just two days away!)

Scandal above Stairs by Jennifer Ashley

First, thank you for Penguin Random House publishing for selecting me to receive this ARC via First to Read.

Jennifer Ashley's Scandal Above Stairs is the second installment in the Below Stairs Mysteries series (or sometimes it's mentioned as an installment of the Kat Holloway Mysteries Series). Although, it is a second book in a series, it doesn't really show. You can totally read this as a standalone but I wish I had read the first book as well, mainly because this second book is so great.

In this book, there's two main characters, Kat Holloway, a cook, and Daniel McAdam, who I just want to call a mystery. They are both intriguing, complex characters that I love and both of them still a bit mysterious, although, Daniel more so than Kat. They both have secrets which makes the book so much more interesting and they have a relationship that is very passionate, yet it mostly stays in the bounds of what society saw as appropriate in 1880s.
Then there are the supporting characters, like Tess, a cook's assistant who grows on the reader as you move through the book. And of course, there's Lady Cynthia, an Earl's daughter who likes to dress up in trousers, James, Daniel's son and Mr. Thanos, a wealthy man, who does not see the difference between an aristocrat and a man born in the gutters.

The plot itself is quite fast-paced, exciting, and there's still a feel of danger to it. There's a few mysteries going on, and even though there's murder and danger, the book's atmosphere is still light which makes the book very easy, and quite quick to read. You don't have to take breaks because you can't make sense of what you are reading anymore. You really just want to find out who the villains are and hope that none of the good guys gets hurt. The story kind of just hooks you in and doesn't let go.

All in all this book is absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed Ashley's way of writing and I'm looking forward to reading more of her works.

The book will be published on July, 3rd, 2018 so not a long way to go!

Billionaire's Princess by Claire Adams

I'm a huge fan of the author and of this Billionaire series. This book was great as well and it was a bit different from yout usual billionaire novels.
The main characters, Ariana, a runaway princess, and Nicholas, a billionaire who's tired of being a billionaire, are not the typical characters in these types of novels. I found this to be really refreshing. The characters also really fit well together, as they are, in some ways, very similar to each other but still different. Also, as I said, the characters are really interesting as individuals. There's Ariana, who is running away from her castle and away from a fiancee who is years and years older than her. And then, there is Nicholas, who is tired of being a billionaire, who just wants to live a normal, quite life. And together, they have passion.
The plot of the book is interesting as well and it doesn't get boring. There is always something happening, whether it is the characters being together or the other being kidnapped. Also, the plot isn't straightforward, straight to the happy ending kind of thing. The characters face a lot of hardship, until they get their happy ending and for me, that is important. There wasn't really a chance for me to loose interest.
In conclusion, this book is great, I still really love Claire Adams' work and I can't wait to read more of her novels.

Bought by the billionaire brothers (The bundle) by Alexx Andria

First off, I bought this book after I had read the sample book and the first two chapters sounded interesting.
There's basically four main characters, three of them at first and three of the four are brothers as well. At first all the characters sounded quite interesting and even though Penny was a bit naive, I like her. However, a bit further into the book, the brothers turned out to be quite mean and very simple in the way they treated Penny. Then there's the third brother who, at first seems to be villain of the book, but turns out to be the good guy. In a way all the characters could have been a bit more developed.
Moving on to the plot of the book. Like I have already mentioned, I read the first two chapters before purchasing this book and the those chapters really arose my interest in the book. It sounded like a good book. Then, further in the book, it changed for the worse and the plot was alright but it didn't quite fill my expectations. The drama was just a bit unfitting in a way. And even though I enjoyed most of the book, there is still some bits that I absolutely despised.
The book ends in a way that I was not quite expecting but it was a good ending still and it was worth to read.
